Will the world be rebuilt and will books be reestablished and read as they used to be?
ReplyDeleteI actually think it will. This is a huge change and they will now all understand.
DeleteI think more people will start to try and make books legal again, people will realize books aren't bad.
DeleteI think the books will be reestablished to make the younger generations smarter and more educated.
DeleteI think the government will try to reestablish what they destroyed but they will need to get the trust of their people again.
DeleteWhy do you think the government chose to drop the bombs on their own people?
ReplyDeleteI think that because of the threat Montag posed to the whole country, that was the only way in their minds to truly get rid of him.
DeleteThe people started to see the world in a way that the government was hiding them from so they had to stop that.
DeleteThe government doesn't value the people. They only value the control that they have. So they dropped bombs because to end the curiosity that they were getting.
DeleteDid you like or dislike the way the book ended? Why or why not?
ReplyDeleteI disliked the way it ended Reid. I wish it would have ended with more answers and less of a cliffhanger.
DeleteI don't really like it because, it ends on a cliffhanger and you never know if Montag persevered or not.
DeleteThe ending wasn't as concrete as I expected it to be.
DeleteI find it interesting on page 150 when Granger introduces all the men to Montag because all of the men are successful educated individuals. Do you think that these men are the perfect fit to help rebuild and move forward?
ReplyDeleteYes I think it all starts with a small group of intellectual individuals. I think they can also make a change how they are reaching out to other individuals like them across the country to start a movement.
DeleteIf the book continued what predictions would you have?
ReplyDeleteI predict that after a long time and after several generations that books would come back.
DeleteI think the educated people who remember the books would be able to write them down and reproduce them back into books.
DeleteI think that more would follow Montag and want to know more about books.
Deletei think that montag is saying that all of the eras of the way the world is run are seasons
ReplyDeleteOn page 145 Montag says, "Once, long ago, Clarisse had walked here, where he was walking now" did Montag follow Clarisse in a way throughout the book?
ReplyDeleteI think he did, she kind of inspired him from the beginning, and he started following her ideas and morals with the world after he met her, especially after she died
DeleteI think that Clarisse had a plan to get more people on the books' side or on her side. I think that he did follow her in a way because she helped him many times throughout the book.
DeleteI think he did, he turned himself from conformity into going against society with the help of Clarisse, and now he is walking where Clarisse did. It is much like a circle, he has finally become what Clarisse was. Instead, he is not moving just one person down a different path, he is moving society.
DeleteI feel like Clarisse and what she and Montag talked about, has effected him throughout the whole book. Hes made certain decisions based on the effect that she had on him.
DeleteI liked how they brought up the ending and how it ended abruptly.
ReplyDeleteI agree it was unexpected and I liked that.
DeleteDo you think this book was a cliffhanger when it ended or was it a smooth ending?
ReplyDeleteI think Bradbury was obsessed over his endings, just like any author, and I think he made it a smooth ending because Montag and the other men walk towards the city in order to help them rebuild, which is not much of a cliffhanger.
DeleteI think it was a hopeful cliffhanger and leaves the reader wondering what the people will do next.
DeleteWhy at this point did he remember where he met Mildred?
ReplyDeleteBecause he finally escaped the mind game he was in, and all of his memories and thoughts became clear.
DeleteI think because he finally came back to full reality and realized everything and understood what was happening when he was on the outside of the city looking in.
Deletei think that the book ended so suddenly because the author wanted us to have to think more about it
ReplyDeleteI agree because not creating a smooth ending makes the readers look at what the book was about more than just telling them how it ends.
DeleteOn page 145 Montag says, "Once, long ago, Clarisse had walked here, where he was walking now...". Why do you think she went back after doing this? Why not, like Montag, stay on this new path?
ReplyDeleteGreat quote it really makes you think towards the beginning and how Clarisse affected Montag.
DeleteThanks man really appreciate it
DeleteIf the book continued, what do you think would've happened?
ReplyDeleteI think the outsiders, like Montag, would use all of their knowledge and rebuild the way the world should have been.
DeleteOn page 144, Granger says "All of us have photographic memories, but spend a lifetime learning how to block off the things that are really in there". Do you think this is true? What do you think we as a whole have blocked off?
ReplyDeleteWe as a whole like to block out old memories, things that we would rather not remember.
DeleteHow would you have ended the book? Why is your way better?
ReplyDeleteI think it should have ended with a look into the future showing how the world has changed.
DeleteI would end the book the same was as Bradbury did because fire is a constant symbol, and the Phoenix is also a symbol of fire, and Bradbury ended it with hope, in which he believed would happen to our society in the future. But he wanted the symbol of a the city rising from the ashes like a Phoenix, which is actually pretty cool.
Deleteif you lived in this world and you were a fire man would you have tried to save books like montag did or would you have gone with the system
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say, I think Montag did the right thing but it would be hard to tell what people would do with books because you would think completely differently in that society than you do in ours.
DeleteWhat do you think all the bible references mean? How does it connect?
ReplyDeleteThe last quote was from the Book of Revelations, the apocalyptic book in the Bible. I think it was used not only because it is a well known verse, but also because it is about the healing of nations.
DeleteHow does the bombing of the city present a new and fresh start for the society?
ReplyDeleteIt kills off all those goons that did not know how to live.
DeleteOnce again with fire, this show a new start because the whole society needs to start over again.
DeleteIt destroys all that was created in the past and people have to focus on rebuilding a new society. It gives them an option to stay or move to a new place
DeleteIts like Montag being the phoenix and coming out of the flame and rising out of it as a sign of a new beginning.
DeleteWhy do you think Granger comments that they will first need to build a mirror factory to take a long look at themselves?
ReplyDelete"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"- George Santayana. Do you think that this is true for the F451 world? The way I see it, I would expect a complete re-boot. Crusades, Renaissance, world wars, the whole spectrum.
ReplyDeleteI agree because in order for change there has to be some of big civil war.
DeleteDo you think Ray Bradbury's novel could become a reality someday? With what we talked about earlier with reality tv and how it effects brain development, should we be worried about it?
ReplyDeleteIt should be something we watch out for someday. We already don't use books as much as we used to because the internet is faster.
DeleteWhat if this whole book was a reality TV show, and this was just the world watching it.
DeleteIf you just look at modern aspects of our society, you see that we are working our way up to it already. We keep getting bigger TV's, putting our kids in school for longer, people constantly have headphones in (seashells), etc. People see all these advancements as progress, but unchecked, are they really progress?
DeleteIs there anything symbolic about the bombing? Possibly referencing the phoenix and a new society being born from the ashes
ReplyDeleteI think it symbolizes Montag as the phoenix and how he rises up to start the new beginning.
DeleteDoes Bradbury make the whole city get bombed to symbolize the city being taken down to the ashes but then referencing the phoenix to show that the city and world will rebound? Is that the reason there was war the entire story?
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think Ray Bradbury wrote this book?
ReplyDeleteThis was written in the 50's, the time of the Cold war. War and The Red Scare definitely influenced parts of the book.
DeleteThe verse at the end is from the book of Revelation. The last book of the bible.
ReplyDeleteBoth thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you,/ And you shall eat the herb of the field./ In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread/ Till you return to the ground,/ For out of it you were taken;/ For dust you are,/ And to dust you shall return.” - Genesis 3:18-20. Do you think Bradbury had this in mind when writing this?
ReplyDeleteTo answer Will's question, I think the city is supposed to resemble the phoenix and it was Bradbury's intentions to burn the city to show how fire now symbolizes preservation of humanity. (pg 144) When Montag notices that fire is good.
ReplyDeleteI think him remembering where he met his wife to give a little resolve to the book. Before, him and his wife were distant and it wasn't really a marriage and the barely knew each other. In the end, he was still able to remember where they first met. It showed a little bit of their humanity.
